Along the way we had a chat to some of the locals.
The walking was very easy as we have reached flat country and the trail is well marked. We passed through predominantly agricultural land with fields alternating crops of Rape and cereals.
At lunchtime we dropped down into the gorgeous little village of Ashwell to stop at the pub to eat. There were old Tudor style houses
and a post box from the the reign of King George.
Back on the trail it was very straight forward as it ran almost in a straight line through more agricultural land and along the way we chatted to a group of lovely "free range" chooks
before continuing to the Village of Melbourn in Cambridgeshire, our 10th County! We are now heading almost directly East and should reach Lowestoft (the Eastern most point in England) in the next week.
HI, Keith and Lynne. I just learned of your blog -- and I've now caught up with you, 39 days in one go. I need a rest day soon.
ReplyDeleteGood writing and lovely pictures -- makes me want to get out of my chair and into the rain. On second thought, I'll stay dry just a bit longer. Keep up the good trek.
All the best,
Ken
