Day 51: Kenninghall to Brandon

We stayed near the edge of the village and so we were off down the lane and into the countryside.

It was a cool but pleasant Spring day (again) and I pondered as I walked ( yes, I can do 2 things at once) that when we started walking the hedgerows were bare and as we have progressed, so they have developed leaves and buds and now they are just glorious!

Along the way there were interesting thatched cottages.

And an old ruined Saxon church which was built in the 900s and unfortunately burned down in the 1700s when they were trying to repair it.

The Saxon gravestone which was found in the church was incorporated into an interesting information booth nearby

As we had detoured off our planned route due to accommodation ( or lack of it) over Easter we followed lanes and footpaths to eventually bring us back on route, hopefully tomorrow. We did have some problems with paths not being where they should be but the scenery was great and the walk through the various woodlands was really lovely.
