Day 11: Newquay to Porthcothan

A great day to walk! Well rested we bid a fond goodbye to Newquay and set off along the Coastal path with a wistful look behind toward the town disappearing in the distance.

The walking was easy today due to the great weather, the rested feet and the comfortable path. Much of the mud is now starting to dry out after a few days of sunshine and the way was well way marked.
Scenery was of course gorgeous:

All in all a most enjoyable day just made that bit more interesting by the detour from the path due to the bridge being down just short of our destination. A sign indicated there were two choices: "the shorter very muddy option and the longer slightly less muddy option". We followed the little yellow arrows on printed paper markers and found ourselves going round in a circle as the markers for walkers heading North were identical to those for walkers heading south!!! We gritted our teeth and headed for the road arriving none the worse for wear at our intended destination. And then to the pub for tea and a well earned beer.
